Don’t tell me I was born free
That joke has been old since high school
You’ll only find the wrong job for me
Much as I’m looking like the right tool

I never wanted to grow up to be
Some kind of social construct

Adam Ant - Strip

All those sneaky looks gazing down on you
Are no substitute for our rendezvous

Step 1:  Drink.
Step 2:  Make mistakes.
Step 3:  Pretend you don’t remember.
Step 4:  Drink a little more.
Step 5:  Run dry.

This song is so fucking good

Adam Ant // Here Comes the Grump

Ah, I love this song.

I’ve probably posted about this album before, but I’m going to do it again. I don’t know why I didn’t fall in love with it earlier, but the more I listen to it the more I appreciate just how chaotically energetic and life affirming the whole thing is. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to do potentially dangerous but awesome things like start a fight club or ride a bike off of somebody’s roof. It’s chock full of references to American history too, which I personally appreciate a lot. These guys seem to get the spirit of our history as a nation more than most US History teachers I’ve studied under. It’s a crazy, irreverent, violent, rebellious, sprawling tribute to all our wonderful faults and failures, along with some of our victories.
TAKE IT EASY, BUDDY!
IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!
