Sometimes I feel kind of disconnected from my family because I’m so different to them all, but when it comes to relationships, we all act like aliens who are still adapting to the complications of human emotion.

My cousin’s relationship just ended because it was all a bit on the rocks, and she started texting him often and he didn’t want to commit to that kind of high maintenance thing. He was like “she text me three times within an hour” as if that was so unreasonable, and then my aunty was like “well, she had just been in a car crash…” and he said “but it wasn’t that bad a car crash”, and then my aunty said “but her Mum did have a stroke on the way to the hospital…” and he just said “yeah, but they’re fine now…” and after a while he admitted that he may have misjudged the gravitas of the situation a little and been a bit of an arse.
